The members of NMU student organizations sponsor almost 300 campus-wide programs and events every year in addition to the hundreds of group activities. These same students volunteer thousands of hours of service annually to local communities. In the process, the student organizations that register at Northern Michigan University every year provide thousands of students with fun, friendships, memories, and educational experiences that cannot be found in the classroom.

Student Organization: Graduate Writers' Association
|Description||The Graduate Writers' Association(GWA) is an organization of writers from the MA and MFA graduate programs in NMU's Department of English. We host monthly readings to showcase student work, foster a lively writing community, and nurture skills and experiences necessary to professional creative writers. When possible, we also coordinate and attend events with graduate writers from other university communities. For more information, email email@example.com. designed to promote the writings of graduate students across the university by sponsoring readings and activities meant to be shared with the public at large. Any graduate student from any department at NMU may be a member of GWA. Typically, GWA sponsors literary readings, but we also have executed protest poetry readings and lent our name to activities meant to help fund graduate students attending academic conferences.
