The members of NMU student organizations sponsor almost 300 campus-wide programs and events every year in addition to the hundreds of group activities. These same students volunteer thousands of hours of service annually to local communities. In the process, the student organizations that register at Northern Michigan University every year provide thousands of students with fun, friendships, memories, and educational experiences that cannot be found in the classroom.
Efforts put forth by student organizations are recognized annually at the Leadership Recognition Banquet.

Student Organization: Student Social Work Organization
|Description||The Student Social Work Organization (SSWO) is a group of students primarily majoring in Social Work who value spending time with others and coming together through involvement in community service activities. In the past, we have been actively involved in activities such as the Walk to End Alzheimer's, Cancer Awareness Carnival, Homeless Awareness Walk, and the Virtual Dementia Tour at NMU, just to name a few! We are primarily interested in making a difference on campus and within the Marquette community to provide educational opportunities to students and raise awareness to causes that members find important. Anyone is welcome to join the fun! Email email@example.com for more information.|
