The members of NMU student organizations sponsor almost 300 campus-wide programs and events every year in addition to the hundreds of group activities. These same students volunteer thousands of hours of service annually to local communities. In the process, the student organizations that register at Northern Michigan University every year provide thousands of students with fun, friendships, memories, and educational experiences that cannot be found in the classroom.

|Description||The Associated Students of Northern Michigan University (ASNMU) is the student government of Northern Michigan University. ASNMU provides the official voice of the student body as well as represents the study body in university committees. Committees that ASNMU serves on include: Student Finance Committee, President's Round Table, Food Advisory Board, Athletic Council, Parking and Traffic Committee, Technology Learning Committee, and many more. Projects that ASNMU has been involved in include Late Night, Bike Share Program, Seconds to Success, Dozing Discounts, and others. ASNMU addresses student concerns and advocates for students.
