Student Organization: Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA)

Description The Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) is the most distinguished pre-professional organization for students interested in public relations, which encompasses over 11,000 members. Public relations, marketing, communications, journalism, and other majors are welcome to participate in the group. Each year, the chapter sends members to the PRSSA National Conference, which is held in various cities throughout the U.S. The chapter also puts on a campaign to raise money for local charities. In years past, this has included fashion shows, rail jams and the Annual Hometown Pizza Taste Off. Through these campaigns, members of PRSSA get valuable event planning experience. PRSSA also centers itself on volunteerism. NMU PRSSA was named Teaching Family Homes Community Member of the Year in 2010, Volunteer Organization of the Month for February 2011 and won the 2010-2011 Student Organization Community Service Award. The NMU chapter has also had a member elected to serve on the National Committee for the past four years. For more information, email efinkbei@nmu.edu
