The NATIONAL STUDENT SPEECH, LANGUAGE, HEARING ASSOCIATION (NSSLHA) is an active organization on the campus of Northern Michigan University and in the local community. NSSLHA hosts a Story Hour at the Peter White Public Library once a month, where we read stories to the kids and we make a craft together. NSSLHA has also been involved in Make a Difference Day, Dyslexia Walk, Adopt-a-Family, Shoe Boxes for the Homeless, Big Brother/Sister Lunch Buddies, Bingo at the Norlite Nursing Home, Winter Apparel Drive, a continuous Food Drive for the local Salvation Army and many more. NSSLHA assists the Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences Department with Majors Fair in the fall semester and the Health Fair in the winter semester, and assists the Speech and Hearing Clinic in any way that is needed. NSSLHA's main mission is to provide the students in the Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences major and minor with the opportunity to work with a variety of different cultures and ages. We have meetings weekly, and we are warm, outgoing and an encouraging group of people. We enjoy meeting new people and reaching out to those in need. |
