Residency Status for Online Students
Students enrolled in Northern Michigan University’s online degree programs pay the extension tuition and fee rate. Students enrolled in NMU hybrid degree programs pay the on-campus rate, which is determined by residency, because at least a portion of the program is held on Northern’s main campus in Marquette, Mich. On-campus students who choose to take some online courses will also pay tuition and fees based on their residency status.
For the purposes of tuition and fees, NMU defines students as Michigan residents if they have resided in Michigan continuously for at least six months immediately preceding the first day of classes.
To learn more about the circumstances that support residency status, as well as those that don’t, read NMU’s residency policy.
