As part of Homecoming in 1978, Northern set the Guinness World Record for the world’s largest pasty.  It was 12 feet by 6 feet by 6 inches
and contained more than 1,000 pounds of potatoes, carrots, beef and onions. It was baked for six hours and fed more than 2,000 students.

The Proper Cornish Food Company of Fowey, Cornwall, U.K., currently holds the title, set in August 2010, for one weighing 1,604 pounds.
