Local Sustainability is Theme of Conference
NMU’s Earth, Environmental, and Geographical Sciences Department is hosting a forum on Thursday and Friday, Feb. 21-22 regarding local sustainability. All events are free and NMU students and the general public are encouraged to attend.
The event will feature the work and biography of Aldo Leopold, a renowned environmentalist recognized primarily for his efforts toward wilderness conservation. Curt Meine of the Aldo Leopold Foundation will give a presentation at 7 p.m. Thursday in Mead Auditorium.
The forum continues in the Mead Auditorium Friday with a light breakfast at 8:30 a.m. and the 9 a.m. screening of Green Fire: Aldo Leopold and a Land Ethic for Our Time. A community panel discussion regarding local sustainability (panelists to be announced) will follow the screening at 10:30 a.m.
