Lecture: "Is Capitalism Good for Women?"

Dr. Ann Cudd
"Is Capitalism Good for Women?"
4 p.m., Friday, Nov. 9
Reynolds Recital Hall
Free and open to the public.

Must capitalism inevitably cause poverty and inequality for some groups of people? Are women destined to be the losers in this competitive game? Critics argue that capitalism leads to a race to the bottom, and promotes discrimination, objectification, and other social practices that are harmful to women especially. Dr. Cudd argues that a progressive capitalism can be developed that promotes quality of life and freedom for the world's women.

Immediately after the talk, there will be a book signing at the Reynolds Recital Hall, and two of her books wil be available for purchase.

This presentation is sponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences and the Office of the Provost.
