International Service Project in Thailand Informational Meetings

Take a tour of Bangkok and then head to Chiang Rai to work on the construction of a new community center for four days. After all of your hard work, you will get to spend time at an extreme adventures camp in Chiang Mai. After having a day of fun, you will begin learning how to train and care for elephants (how cool is that!) at the Maewang Elephant Camp for two days. Spend a day on a bamboo raft as you head back to Chiang Mai. To finish up the trip, you will get to spend a couple days on the beach.

Interest meetings will be held on Monday, September 9, from 3-4 p.m.; Wednesday, September 11, from 11 a.m.-Noon; Tuesday, September 17, from Noon-1 p.m.; and Thursday, September 19, from 5-6 p.m. You only need to attend one of the interest meetings, and they will all be held in The Back Room, University Center.

The tentative dates for the Thailand service project are December 21, 2013 - January 10, 2014 and the approximate cost is $3,900. You must be a member of Superior Edge in order to participate in this trip. If you still need to sign up for Superior Edge, all you need to do is attend an orientation. You can register for an orientation at www.nmu.edu/skillbuilders and click on "Search" at the bottom of the page. Feel free to register for any of the other workshops that are listed too.

Contact Jon Barch (jbarch@nmu.edu) or Rachel Harris (raharris@nmu.edu) for more information about this trip.
