Contra and Square Dancing

NMU Students:

Interested in a new old experience? Contra Dancing has been enjoyed by experienced and inexperienced dancers for centuries. Originally from the courts in England and France, contra dancing has taken on a vibrant and very American flavor since the 1960s. This is a dance for everyone; our youngest dancers are 6-12 years old and our oldest are around 70, with dancers of all ages in between.

If you don't know what to do, don't worry about it. A caller will help you through the steps. Our band, All Strings Considered, is an accomplished group of musicians from the local scene (mostly Hiawatha regulars). Even if you just come to listen, you'll enjoy it tremendously!

Event: Contra Dance with some old-time square and couple dances. Featured band is All Strings Considered; Marge Sklar calling.
