Mortar Board Recruitment

Recruitment for Mortar Board National Senior Honor Society’s 2013-2014 membership begins!

What is Mortar Board? According to the national website (http://www.mortarboard.org/), "Mortar Board is the premier national honor society recognizing college seniors for superior achievement in scholarship, leadership and service. Only a select few students on each campus are invited to join this esteemed Society. Mortar Board members are presented with the unique opportunity to join a diverse group of students from vastly different disciplines and interests. Since Mortar Board’s founding in 1918, more than a quarter of a million members have held the honor of being initiated at 229 chartered chapters across the nation. Our Society provides its members with opportunities for continued leadership development, promotes service to colleges and universities and encourages lifelong contributions to the global community."

The NMU Telion Chapter of Mortar Board actively participates in service for local charities and community projects, including chuck-a-puck, volunteer opportunities with a local reading program, adopt-a-family, book drives and more! Would you like to be involved?

Upcoming seniors who are actively involved in leadership, service, and hold an honorable academic record should be on the lookout for an invitation. We will be holding an informational meeting to share more about Mortar Board. Please keep your eyes open for the exact date!

If you have any further questions, feel free to contact Andrew Piasecki, Mortar Board Membership Chair (e-mail apiaseck@nmu.edu) or Kerry Mohr in the Academic Affairs Office (e-mail kmohr@nmu.edu or phone 906-227-1458).
