Course Repeat Policy

Course Repeat Policy

If you are repeating a course this semester, please notify the Registrar's Office, C.B. Hedgcock, room 2202, 906-227-2278, or e-mail records@nmu.edu so your record can be properly adjusted. NMU counts the most recent grade in a course even if that grade is lower than the previous one.

If you are receiving financial aid and are repeating a course in which you received a grade other than an F, check with staff in the Financial Aid Office, C.B. Hedgcock, room 2107, 906-227-2327, to determine how the repeat will affect your satisfactory academic progress.

While the university allows almost any course to be repeated, if you have failed a course two times at NMU, you must wait for one semester during the academic year before taking the course for the third time. Additionally, you must demonstrate to the head of the department offering the course that the factors that contributed to poor performance have been addressed and resolved.

If you have questions, please contact the Registrar's Office at 227-2278.
