GetFit is a scientifically-based physical fitness program designed to promote active lifestyles for the improvement and maintenance of body composition, muscular endurance, muscle and joint range of motion and flexibility, and cardiovascular (aerobic) efficiency. It is not only an exercise program but also an educational program.
The participation fee for NMU faculty, staff, students, spouses and retirees who are new to GetFit receive a discounted rate of $190* which includes all initial assessments and the Program Fee.
Returning GetFit participants who were enrolled during 2011-2012 pay only $100 for the Program and do not need additional testing. Deadline for returnee registration is Monday, January 14, 2013, but please note enrollment is limited, therefore, submit your registration form ASAP to reserve a spot!
*Each new participant completes an exercise fitness assessment, which includes body composition estimation for lean body weight and percent fat, and a graded exercise treadmill or bicycle ergometer test with monitored blood pressure and electrocardiogram. Individualized exercise recommendations are then prepared for each participant based on his/her exercise test results. Participants then implement their exercise recommendations within a professionally supervised program of activities geared towards individual needs and interests. The initial exercise fitness assessment for new participants must be completed prior to entry in the program and will be conducted before the start of the program.
Let our staff help you develop an active, healthy lifestyle! For more information or to request a registration packet, please call Lorraine at 227-2130 or simply reply to this e-mail.
