Organization, Training, Search and Recovery Procedures for the Underwater Unit (1979)
By Thomas R. Lewis
An underwater search and recovery unit should be equipped and trained to provide systematic and reliable service to persons or agencies requesting assistance. The aim of this manual is to provide information which will help underwater units in achieving this end. It covers the training and techniques typically used by a civil unit. In addition to providing information for the underwater unit itself, this manual is intended to acquaint non-divers, who might be participating in search and recovery missions, with the common procedures used and the various supportive measures needed to increase the effectiveness of an underwater unit.
