The NMU Center for Native American Studies hosted the College Prep Medicine Wheel Academy from Thursday, March 31 through Saturday, April 2. This program was designed for Native American students in grades 10-12 to showcase opportunities in the health and science professions. Students from Michigan and Wisconsin participated in this program.
The College Prep Medicine Wheel Academy (MWA) specifically targeted Native American youth in grades 10-12 to showcase opportunities in the health and science professions. Over the course of two and a half days, students participated in a range of activities including campus tours/financial aid info, hands-on interactive health profession workshops, leadership-building exercises, social/fun activities, and Native American specific activities.
Lodging was at Bay Cliff Health Camp in Big Bay, Michigan. Meals were on-campus and at Bay Cliff.
