University Orchestra

orchestraThe NMU Orchestra consists of music majors, non-music majors and community members. The string orchestra meets in the fall semester, while the symphony orchestra meets in the winter semester. The literature performed is diverse in style and is often challenging for everyone. Rehearsals require intense focus twice a week for two hours each day. Future plans include a performance tour, a combined performance with the university chorus and surrounding high school orchestras, and the opportunity to learn 20th century classical works, as well as movie scores by John Williams. Auditions for the University Orchestra are held the first week of each semester.   The course number is MU116.

Contact Barbara Rhyneer, orchestra director, at 906-227-2309 for more information.
