On Monday, October 28, Floyd Slotterback, NMU's Director of Choirs, was the guest clinician at the 2013 Menominee River Conference Fall Sing at Norway High School. Held since 2005, the Fall Sing brings students together from area schools to rehearse and perform with a prominent guest conductor. NMU music alumna Dawn Kranz (BME 1983), choral director at Norway High School and host for the event, commented "We were pleased and honored to have Dr. Slotterback here at Norway to work with our students. Everyone enjoyed their time making great music together!"
Also attending the Fall Sing were choirs from Iron Mountain (directed by alumna Gail Vornkahl, BME 1996), Kingsford (directed by Crystal Hogan), and Pembine (directed by Rick LaFleur). Dr. Robert Engelhart, Music Department Head, said "These clinics and visits to schools in the region are an important part of our department mission. Thanks to Dr. Slotterback for a wonderful day of teaching and inspiration."
