NMU Distinguished Team Award for 2017 for "Landslide"

The NMU Arts Chorale and Production Team of Promotional Video Receive NMU Award:

Members of the NMU Arts Chorale and various faculty and staff received the NMU Distinguished Team Award for 2017.  This award recognizes those teams that demonstrate exemplary performance and/or innovation while working together in an open and collaborative manner to achieve a task or change that furthers the University's mission, goals, and core values.  They were awarded at the Faculty and Staff Recognition luncheon on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 in the Great Lakes Rooms.

The group combined for a special project.  "Landslide", composed by Fleetwood Mac star, Stevie Nicks, performed here by our very own NMU students.  Dr. Erin Colwitz, Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Choral activities at NMU commissioned Zach Neufeld, Los Angeles composer, to arrange a new setting of this piece for choir.  This new setting was rehearsed and recorded by Dr. Mark Shevy, Associate Professor of Communications here at NMU, and the video was shot by our Marketing and Communications department at beautiful Presque Isle Park right here in Marquette.

This video is just the first step of a larger process to promote the University and the Music Department at NMU.  It has been released on YouTube and other social media sources to the public as a tool of recruitment to expand our enrollment.  The Facebook posting of the video has been viewed nearly a half million times.
