diverse studentsThe Multicultural Education and Resource Center (MERC) provides services to and a safe space for students who self-identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, or other sexual and gender minorities. Students who may be questioning their sexual identity are also welcome.

Located in our office, a room dedicated to LGBT+ resources, handouts, books, and movies. Below is a list of resources for ALL students to utilize:

ALLIES

MERC Associate Director Shirley Brozzo and Associate Professor Chet DeFonso serve as facilitators for the faculty/staff group ALLIES.

ALLIESNMU currently has 65 Departmental locations with over 400 ALLIES members.

**ALLIES Scholarship**

Students who, through leadership, support or involvement in organizations, activities or issues that promote awareness and acceptance of the lesbian/gay/bi-sexual/transgender/queer/plus (LGBTQ+) community at Northern Michigan University, may apply for the ALLIES Scholarship. Applicants must provide a written statement (1000 words), documenting there experiences. The $500 minimum scholarship will be split between two semesters.

Q+A - Queers and Allies Social Club

Associate Professor Gary Stark is advisor for this student organization. Q+A meetings are held Wednesday evenings at 8:30 p.m. in the Cadillac Room of the University Center.
