Student Awards

Each year the Modern Languages and Literatures department offers 2-3 study abroad awards and chooses two Outstanding Graduating Seniors from our Language and International Studies students. 

2009-2010 Outstanding Graduating Seniors:

International Studies: Amanda Portice graduated from Northern Michigan University with double major in Spanish and International Studies. She is now pursuing a Post-Bachelorette degree in Art and Design at Northern Michigan University.

Languages - Amber Shumard graduated from Northern Michigan University with a double major in French and Spanish with a minor in International Studies.

2009-2010 Study Abroad Awards

French Award
Carley Sukhbir studied abroad in Paris, France through ISA for the summer 2010 semester.


German Award

Ryan Haskell studied abroad in Vienna, Austria on a faculty led with Prof. Carol Strauss from Modern Languages and Literatures and Prof. Robert Goodrich from History department during the summer 2010 semester.


Spanish Award

Jamie Laurie studied abroad in Guanajuato, Mexico on a faculty led program with Prof. Michael Joy during the summer 2010 semester.
