Northern Michigan University hosted a group of 25 students and mentors from Central America for its Youth Ambassadors Program from January 24 to January 30, 2012. Interpreter Mar Siller visited classes and helped to reduce the language barrier as students could wear headphones to hear Siller’s translations.
The students participated in presentations, activities, and tours to learn about entrepreneurship, leadership, and community service. They visited Marquette Senior High School and the U.P. Children’s Museum, toured businesses in downtown Marquette, and spent some time volunteering at St. Vincent De Paul's Thrift Store in Marquette.
