LTC Jonathan R. Rastall received his commission in Aviation after graduating from Viterbo University in 1998. His first assignment after completing flight school in Fort Rucker, Alabama was with the 1st Attack Battalion, 3rd Aviation Regiment (3rd Infantry Division) at Hunter Army Airfield where he served as an Attack Helicopter Platoon Leader and Task Force S4.
LTC Rastall has also served in various command and staff positions to include: company commander of Bravo Company, 3rd Attack Battalion, 101st Aviation Regiment, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) in Fort Campbell, Kentucky; Aviation Officer / Personnel Recovery Officer for Headquarters, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry) at Fort Drum, New York; Brigade Aviation Officer of 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry) at Fort Drum, New York; Squadron Executive Officer and Squadron Operations Officer of 6th Squadron, 6th Cavalry, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry) at Fort Drum, New York. His most recent assignment was as the Senior Aviation Observer/Coach/Trainer for Operations Group Foxtrot in the Mission Command Training Program at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
LTC Rastall has had multiple deployments to include an operational deployment to Kuwait, two combat deployments to Iraq, and two combat deployments to Afghanistan. His awards and decorations include two Bronze Stars, two Meritorious Service Medals, two Air Medals, four Army Commendation Medals, the Combat Action Badge, the Army Aviator Badge, the Parachutist’s Badge, and the Air Assault Badge. He has earned a Master’s degree in Administration from Central Michigan University.
LTC Rastall is married to the former Jodi Sheets of Seneca, Wisconsin since September 1999. They have two sons, Aidan and Logan.
