Heather Pickett, Program Director

Program Director Heather Pickett is an NMU alumnus who received her BS in Sociology in 2006 and MAE in School Counseling in 2008. Prior to work at NMU, Heather worked at a Tribal College with TRIO Student Support Services and in Online Program Administration. Heather loves working with college students and is excited to share and gain knowledge with McNair Scholars at NMU. Growing up in rural Mecosta County – Big Rapids, MI, Heather developed a great love for outdoor activities including biking, fishing, and canoeing.


Jennifer Broadway, Program Coordinator

Jenny Broadway grew up in Kankakee, Illinois, and got a degree in Elementary Education from the University of Illinois.  After earning her master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Wichita State in 1987, Jenny proceeded to take 26 years off "work" to raise three children!  Her nest now empty, Jenny is excited to be involved with the McNair Scholars program.  Jenny loves to read, cook, walk, play the piano, and be with her family and friends.


Terri Williams Terri Williams, Program Secretary

Terri was born and raised in Ishpeming, Mich., and received her associate’s degree in business from NMU in 1993. After spending six years in Iowa with her husband, they decided to make the move back home to the beautiful Upper Peninsula to be closer to family and friends. Terri has been employed here at the university since September 2000, and enjoys seeing students succeed during their college experience. Her children, Trevor and Tianna, keep her extremely busy with their extracurricular activities. When she has spare time, Terri enjoys gardening and bird watching.
