Northern Michigan University ranks 18th nationwide for most affordable online teaching degrees, according to the 2016 rankings posted by the SR Education Group on its website, OnlineU. NMU is the only Michigan institution on the Top 25 list.
Qualifying schools for the SR Education Group rankings offer at least five online bachelor’s or master’s degrees with tuition rates of less than $10,000 per year. NMU offers the following online master’s programs: learning disabilities, reading K-8, reading specialist K-12, administration and supervision—also available with an American Indian emphasis—and instruction.
“The only thing outpacing the affordability of our programs is the quality of instruction,” said Joe Lubig, director of education at NMU. “We have lists of comments from students highlighting the positive experiences they have had in their programs. Our faculty push them hard, fully engage them in higher level problem-solving and are modeling best practices at every turn.”
The SR Education Group researched accredited schools across the nation offering online degree programs and ranked them according to annual tuition rates. The list can be found at http://www.onlineu.org/most-affordable-colleges/teaching-degrees.
