MARQUETTE, Mich.—United States Olympic Education Center weightlifter Vanessa McCoy participated in the World University Games that are taking place from July 6 – 17 in Kazan, Russia.
McCoy, of Wichita Falls, Texas, finished 11th overall, lifting 83-kilograms in the snatch and 103 kg in the clean and jerk for a personal record of 186 kg.
Two Greco-Roman wrestlers will represent the USOEC on Monday, July 15. Max Nowry, Wheeling, Ill., who finished his career at NMU in May, and Parker Betts, St. Michael, Minn., will compete in the 55 kg and 120 kg weight classes, respectively.
Taking place every two years, the World University Games are an international multi-sport event organized for university athletes by the International Sports Federation.
