A mandatory meeting for those attending the next Northern Michigan University Regional Police Academy will take place from 5-6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, in 132 Jacobetti Complex. Documentation will be handed out covering the enrollment process for those attending the academy, which begins in May. To sign up, call the NMU Regional Police Academy at 227-1408.
The academy is a 16-week, 800-hour police training school designed to provide basic law enforcement training to in-service and pre-service recruits. The curriculum covers such topics as physical fitness training, firearms, precision driving, first aid and CPR, police tactics, defensive tactics, criminal justice, domestic violence, traffic enforcement, criminal law and other areas.
