The Central Upper Peninsula and Northern Michigan University Archives will present "The Italian Experience: Early 20th Century Italian Immigration in Marquette County." This Evening at the Archives event begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, in the lower level of the NMU Learning Resources Center.
Senior history major Austin Bannister will present his research, which focuses on the lives of the Italian immigrants that came to this area during the first two decades of the 20th century. He will discuss the reasons for emigration from Italy, the lives and jobs held by Italians in Marquette County and the social organization of these Italians.
The NMU History Club will follow with a brief 10-minute presentation on the organization for any students who may be interested. Cookies and coffee will be available at the presentation.
