Northern Nights, the performing arts series of Northern Michigan University, will present a triple bill performance featuring three Midwest singer-songwriters: Jonathan Rundman, Erik Koskinen and Charlie Parr. The concert will take place at 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, in Kaufman Auditorium.

Born and raised in the isolated Finnish-American communities of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, Rundman’s music draws from his diverse musical influences including American, Nordic folk music and ‘80s new wave pop. Rundman’s songs have generated reviews in Billboard, The New York Times and have been featured on television’s Ellen Degeneres Show and CBS This Morning.

Koskinen, a native of the Copper Country, is a musician, songwriter, producer and engineer. Koskinen’s blend of American folk, country, rock-n-roll and blues produces a sound that is distinctive and fresh while still being familiar and classic.

Parr, originally from Minnesota, draws much of his inspiration from his love for his home state. He combines the sound of the guitar and banjo with original folk blues and traditional spirituals.
