NCLL TOURS MATHER'S GROVE

MARQUETTE, Mich.— The Northern Center for Lifelong Learning will offer a tour of Mather’s Grove in Ishpeming from 1-3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20.

Participants will walk the original circular carriage path in Mather’s Grove, a wooded area about a mile in length with views of Lake Angeline. William G. Mather, the former president and chairman of Cleveland Cliffs, used to take guests on leisurely walks on the path. The tour includes a view of the exterior of Cliffs Cottage, which was built around 1891 and now houses Cliffs Natural Resources executives when they visit the area for business. A side visit to nearby Jasper Knob may follow.

The tour is free for NCLL members and $5 for nonmembers. Register by Friday, Sept. 16, by calling Ethel Dobson at 475-5752.
