NCLL OFFERS HEALTH CARE REFORM CLASS

            MARQUETTE, Mich.—The Northern Center for Lifelong Learning will present a free class on the history of health care reform at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, in room the Superior Dome’s room B-101.

            Kevin Piggott, the medical director of the Marquette County Health Department, will summarize the last 100 years of historic events regarding health care reform up to and including the current Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. He will show the California newsreel series “Unnatural Causes,” which addresses the spike in depression, diabetes and heart disease after one of the largest refrigerator factories in the country is closed down. For perspective, it will show how the Swedish employees of the same company were relatively unaffected by the closure. A question-and-answer period will end the session.
