NMU STUDENTS PLACE IN 2009 MAB AWARDS

For the 17th year in a row, Northern Michigan University students have been recognized by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters (MAB) in a statewide high school and college awards competition.

A trio of NMU students collected second place for their entry in the category of television public service announcement. They were honored at the Great Lakes Broadcasting Conference and Expo in March.

The award recipients are: Jerry Tudor from Marquette, who was unable to attend the conference; and (pictured left to right in the attached image): Dustin Alcock from Sand Creek, Mich., and Cory Cameron from Huber Heights, Ohio. All are media production and new technology majors. The students created the spot during the fall semester while enrolled in a studio television production course taught by Mark Shevy, a professor in the communication and performance studies department.
