Five Northern Michigan University students were awarded scholarships by the NMU history department at its annual awards banquet earlier this month. Anders Gillis of Fairbanks, Alaska, was presented with the Gene DeLon Jones Scholarship. Ian Rothe of Frederic and Robert Manty of Marquette each received a Richard Sonderegger Memorial Scholarship. Callie Youngman of Cadillac was awarded the Richard O’Dell Endowed Scholarship and Mandy Tegman of Roscommon received the Ruth Rothmeyer Smitherman Scholarship. Each of the scholarships requires a grade point average of 3.00 or higher (based on a 4.00 scale) and demonstration of high academic achievement.
