'INNOVATIONS IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT' AT NMU

MARQUETTE--Northern Michigan University’s department of political science and public administration will host a symposium titled “Innovations in Local Government Management” on Friday, Feb. 6. The free event is scheduled from 3-5 p.m. in Mead Auditorium in the West Science Building.

            The symposium will examine research, practices and alternative strategies for addressing the current issues facing local governments. It will take into account the unique obstacles the Upper Peninsula faces in providing public services, such as distance, decreasing population and limited economic development. 

            Featured presenters are Gerald Gabris from Northern Illinois University and Douglas Ihrke from the University of Wisconsin. Brian Cherry of NMU will moderate the symposium.
