NMU SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA PERFORMS

MARQUETTE—The Northern Michigan University Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Barbara Rhyneer, will perform a free concert at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, in Reynolds Recital Hall. The public is invited.

            The concert is titled “Illumination and Celebration” and will include the following selections: “Finlandia” by Sibelius, “Festival Overture” by Shostakovitch, “Allegretto” from Symphony No. 7 by Beethoven, “Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers” by Howard Shore and Overtune to the Opera “Tannhauser” by Wagner. Featured will be the piece "Illumination," a collaborative work by Barbara Rhyneer, with narration by Les Wong, Rodney Clarken, Dianne Sautter, Beverly Matherne, and Roslyn McGrath, accompanied by orchestra improvisation.
