Poet Sandra Beasley will read from her works at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, at the Women’s Federated Clubhouse in Marquette. The public is invited free of charge.

            Beasley is the author of the poetry collection “Theories of Falling” and the forthcoming “Bitch and Brew: Sestinas.” A graduate of The American University, where she received her MFA, her poems have appeared in such publications as “Agni Online,” “The Believer,” “National Literary Review,” “Passages North” and “SLATE.”

            She has been a fellow at the Vermont Studio Center as well as the Sewanee Writers’ Conference, and the winner of the 2008 Maureen Egen Writers Exchange Award from Poets & Writers magazine and the 2007 Elinor Benedict Poetry Prize from Passages North. She lives in Washington, DC.
