The eighth annual First Nations Food Taster at Northern Michigan University will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, in the Jacobetti Center. Traditional and contemporary Native dishes will be served. The menu includes buffalo, venison, fish, wild rice, squash, corn soup, fry bread and desserts. Musical entertainment will be provided by Elda Tate, NMU professor. Tickets may be purchased at two campus locations: 112 Whitman Hall or 2001 C.B. Hedgcock. Advance prices through Nov. 6 are $4 for NMU students with an ID and children 12 and under and $10 for the general public. The price increases to $5 and $12, respectively, on the date of the event. This is a dish bag event, which means diners are encouraged to bring their own unbreakable dishware to be entered into a prize raffle. The First Nations Food Taster is sponsored by the NMU Native American Student Association. For more information, call 227-1397.
