NCLL TO VISIT MARQUETTE FISH HATCHERY

Biologist John Aho will lead a guided tour of the Department of Natural Resources Marquette Fish Hatchery on Wednesday, Oct. 1. The program is sponsored by the Northern Center for Lifelong Learning.

The DNR fish hatchery provides more than 8,000 trout annually for both inland and Great Lakes waters. Aho will lead visitors through the indoor and outdoor interpretative areas and present information about the importance of small tributaries to Great Lakes Brook and Lake Trout rehabilitation and fisheries research. He also will discuss how watersheds work and how a hatchery operates.

Participants may meet either in the east parking lot of the Berry Events Center in Marquette at 9:10 a.m. or in the Jack’s Superserv parking lot in Harvey at 9:25. Return times to those locations are 11:15 a.m. and 11:05 a.m., respectively.

The cost is $4 for members and $7 for non-members. Please register by Sept. 24 by calling Dave or Carol Fitzgerald at (941) 740-0826.
