J.A. “Ted” Baartman, a nationally recognized consultant on communication and leadership, will give two presentations at Northern Michigan University. Both are free and open to the public. Baartman will present “Fundamentals for an Effective Global Leader” from 5-6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, in the Erie Room of the University Center. He also will address “Communication and Leadership” from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, in the Marquette/Nicolet rooms of the University Center. Baartman is a leadership coach and specializes in crisis situations. His clients include senior leaders, staff and board members of leading private firms, government agencies and not-for-profit organizations. Baartman has been a speaker and facilitated workshops and training sessions around the world including Australia, Canada, China, Germany, Mexico, South Korea, Switzerland and the United States. His NMU visit is sponsored by the College of Business, the office of international programs, the political science department and the Lake Superior Community Partnership.
