Wilderness enthusiast and Internet author Tom Foye will lead a hike through a portion of the McCormick Tract Wilderness from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27. The rain date is Saturday, Oct. 11. Participants will meet in the east parking lot of the Berry Events Center and drive 1.5 hours to the trailhead. The hike is expected to take four to five hours. It will follow the north trail to the falls on the west branch of the Yellow Dog River, continue to the east branch of the Yellow Dog to view the largest trees in Marquette County, travel upstream along the east branch and pass about 10 waterfalls and proceed to the top of the trail for a grand view of a double-waterfalls’ scene. The Northern Center for Lifelong Learning is sponsoring the program. The cost is $4 for NCLL members and $7 for non-members. To register by the Sept. 25 deadline, or for more information, contact class liaison Paula McCormick at 228-5489.
