The Northern Center for Lifelong Learning will sponsor “Are You Ready? An In-depth Guide to Citizen Preparedness” from 1-4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, in 414 Cohodas Hall.

John Forslin will present the course, which has been designed to help U.S. citizens learn how to protect themselves, their families and property against all types of hazards. The focus is on how to develop, practice and maintain emergency plans that reflect what must be done before, during and after a disaster. Also included is information on how to assemble a disaster supplies kit that contains the food, water and other items in sufficient quantity for individuals and their families to survive. An optional “final exam” may be taken online for formal FEMA certification.

The cost is $4 for members and $7 for nonmembers. To register by the Sept. 16 deadline, or for more information, contact class liaison Don Balmer at 249-1273.
