Three Northern Michigan University alumni will reunite for a retrospective at the DeVos Art Museum July 11-Aug. 1. “The Brothers Ape” exhibition features works by Art Brut, Sycamore Smith and Freepy Shwirtel. It is the first in what is planned to become an annual showcase at the museum of artists living in, or heavily influenced by, the Upper Peninsula. A closing reception is scheduled from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1. Live music will be provided by Al Duvall of Brooklyn, N.Y. DeVos Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and 1-4 p.m. on weekends.
