The Northern Center for Lifelong Learning will present a class titled “Basic Plumbing for Homeowners” on Tuesday and Thursday, June 17 and 19. The sessions will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in room 127 of the Jacobetti Center. Northern Michigan University instructor Bob Holtzmann will be the presenter. Participants will explore the workings of some of the plumbing systems in homes and learn how to identify and make simple repairs. These simple repairs include such things as dripping faucets and leaking toilets. Participants will also learn to use different tools and work with various types of pipe tubing and fittings. Holtzmann will also teach attendees about plumbing traps and venting, and also “when to call the professionals.” Safety glasses are required in the lab. Participants should also bring light jersey gloves if possible. There will be a lunch break, so participants should bring a sack lunch and beverage. The cost for the event is $8 for NCLL members and $14 for nonmembers, plus a nominal charge for materials used. For more information or to register, contact class liaison Cliff Stammer at 906-228-9897 before Friday, June 13.
