MARQUETTE – Jason Revello, a Northern Michigan University senior from Oconto Falls, Wis., has received a Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship from the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of International Affairs, and the Institute of International Education.
Revello is an international studies major. He was one of 1,007 applicants for the 389 available international scholarships. His $5,000 award will be used to participate in the Japan Center for Michigan Universities (JCMU) from September 2006 until April 2007.
JCMU is a study-abroad program located in Hikone, Shiga Prefecture, Japan. Its programs are dedicated to building relationships between Japanese, Americans, and other nationalities through active learning and participation in language, culture, family life and society. More than 800 university students have participated in JCMU programs since 1989.
