FACULTY AND FRIENDS JAZZ COMBO CONCERT AT NMU

            MARQUETTE – In conjunction with 10th annual Jazz Fest at Northern Michigan University, the NMU faculty and friends jazz combo will perform at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 20, at Reynolds Recital Hall.

            The concert will feature NMU faculty members Mark Flaherty on trumpet and flugelhorn; Steve Grugin on trombone; Steve Leuthold on flute, tenor saxophone and soprano saxophone; and James Strain on drums.

            They will be joined by special guests Travis Burleson on bass, Nick Enz on alto saxophone, Kirsten Gustafson on vocals, Mike Irish on guitar, Kelly Rossum on trumpet, and Dave Ziegner on guitar.

            The program includes songs that Leuthold, Ziegner, and Rossum composed, as well as “Bemsha Swing” by Thelonious Monk, “Route 66” by Bobby Troup, and a variety of other selections.
