MARQUETTE – The Northern Center for Lifelong Learning will present national disaster planning classes on Thursday, April 20 and April 27. Each day will have a morning class and an evening class. The morning classes will run from 8:30-11:30 a.m. in Cohodas Administrative Center room 414. The evening classes will run from 5:30-8:30 p.m. in West Science room 3805.

The classes will review the National Incident Management System, the National Response Plan, and the Incident Command System. Participants will learn what federal, state and local agencies are set to do and the practical limits of response in wide-scale disaster management.

Information provided in the classes will come from Michigan State Police Department, homeland security, and FEMA resources. After taking the class, interested participants will be eligible to take the no-cost, web-based FEMA IC100 and IC700 certification tests on their own.

The cost is $8 for NCLL members and $14 for nonmembers. The registration deadline is Tuesday, April 18. To register, contact the NCLL office at 227-2979. For more information, contact the class liaison at 249-3229.
