MARQUETTE – Northern Michigan University will host “Speak Up About Darfur: Awareness Night” at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 13, in the Erie Room of the University Center.

Darfur, a region in the African country of Sudan, is comprised of several different ethnic groups. Members of Students Against Silence (SAS) will discuss how Darfur’s government is systematically killing these groups and what students can do to help stop it.

“We think that it’s important for students to know about this, and know that if they take a stand against it, their voices will be heard,” said Jessica Woolman, senior international relations major and SAS member.

This free event is open to the public. For more information, contact Woolman at 906-869-7525.
