MARQUETTE – A Northern Michigan University student organization will host a public forum titled “The Language Barrier: Translating NMU into a Language-Friendly Campus” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, in Jamrich Hall room 104.
Several students who have studied abroad will be present to discuss how their experiences were impacted by the amount of language study currently available at NMU.
“The purpose of this event is to draw attention to the lack of languages
we have on campus and the need to expand the language programs,” said Amy Hickey, undeclared freshman and member of the honors student organization. “We believe that the language barrier is a hot topic here, and we’re hoping to create a bigger buzz about it.”
This event is free and open to the general public. It is sponsored by the honors student organization. For more information, contact Hickey at 227-4309.
