COMEDIAN MIKE BIRBIGLIA TO PERFORM AT NMU

            MARQUETTE – Nationally-recognized comedian Mike Birbiglia will perform at Northern Michigan University at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 1, in the Great Lakes rooms of the University Center. Special guest John Mulaney will also perform.

            Birbiglia, a Georgetown University graduate, is known for his soft-spoken, self-deprecating style. He is credited with coining the phrases “baldological clock” and “Olive Garden Italian.”

            At age 24, Birbiglia made his TV debut on The Late Show with David Letterman. He has since toured the country, become one of the most requested comics on the Bob and Tom Morning Radio Show, and done two Comedy Central Presents specials. He is also a regular on CBS’s Late Late Show with Craig Kilbourn and Last Call with Carson Daly.

            In 2003, Birbiglia was named Best Male Comic by college students nationwide. He was also recognized by the New York Post as one of the “New Stars of 2005.” Last year, he performed 300 shows in 40 different cities. He currently resides in New York’s Greenwich Village.

            Tickets will go on sale on Monday, March 20 at all EZ ticket outlets. They are $2 for NMU students with ID and $5 for the general public. One student in attendance will receive a Nintendo DS game system, and other prizes will be distributed as well.
