NMU STUDENTS RECEIVE BROADCAST AWARDS

            MARQUETTE – Nine Northern Michigan University students received awards in the college broadcast awards competition sponsored by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters (MAB) Foundation. They will be recognized on Tuesday, March 14, during the Great Lakes Broadcasting Conference in Lansing.

            The annual competition recognizes student achievements in radio and television at high school and college levels. NMU received awards in the following categories: daily radio newscast/news feature, talk show, television newscast, and news feature/magazine program.

            The students and their award placements are:

            Michigan

            Baraga: Diana Shannon, honorable mention, daily radio newscast/news feature; Filion: Kayla Rice, second place, daily radio newscast/news feature; Gwinn: Edmund Brown, honorable mention, talk show; Houghton: Airen Olszewski, honorable mention, daily radio newscast/news feature; Marquette: Jerry Hume, honorable mention, news feature/magazine program; Ypsilanti: Adam Czarnecki, honorable mention, daily radio newscast/news feature;

           

            Illinois

             Chicago: Brandon Thomas, first place, television newscast;

 

            Wisconsin

             Whitewater: Gavin Telfer, second place, daily radio newscast/news feature; Winneconne: Matt Wellens, honorable mention, talk show.
